Cuttack is a district located few kms from Bhubaneswar. The district head quarter is Cuttack city which was once capital of Odisha and one of the oldest city of Odisha. The city is surrounded by two rivers Kathajodi River and the Mahanadi River. The name of the city is an anglicised form of Katak which means Fort, a reference to the ancient Barabati Fort around which the city is situated. It is also considered as the judicial capital of Odisha. Cuttack is also known as the Millennium City as well as the Silver City due to its history of 1000 years and famous silver filigree works. The city is also the commercial capital of Odisha which hosts a large number of trading and business houses in and around the city. Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are often referred to as the Twin-Cities of Odisha.

The city is the most colorful during the festivals of Dussehra and Kartika Purnima (Bali Yatra) the city offers immense shopping facilities. Some of the famous places in the city are Cuttack Chandi Temple, Dhabaleswar Temple, Barabati Fort, Netaji Birth Place Museum, Naraj & Jobra, Odisha Maritime museum etc. Other attractions in the district like Chaudwar, Anshupa lake, Banki are also popular among the tourists.
